For over 50 years audiences both young and old have been laughing their heads off to the slapstick comical antics of our favorite cat and mouse team. Tom the cat is the mischievous foe of Jerry the cute innocent little mouse, though try as he might to catch and make a meal out of Jerry his attempts always fall short and he ends up being a victim of his own traps. This simple cat and mouse chase has captured the hearts of millions and we owe it all to the 2 creators William Hannah and Joseph Barbara.

How Tom and Jerry started: Two people were responsible for these loveable cartoon characters, William Hannah and Joseph Barbara. They met in the 1940’s when mass entertainment was just starting to take a hold on the public. What made them a perfect pair was their personal abilities and how these complimented each other so well. William Hannah had strong directing skills and had already made a name in the industry, and on the other hand Joseph Barbara was an amazingly creative story teller and character designer. The duo put their heads together and came up with several classic cartoon series that also includes the Jetsons, Flintstones and Yogi Bear; plus a whole line of other titles that you will definitely be aware of.

In the many years that Tom and Jerry has been running there have been several directors and artists helping to churn out original episodes, after Hannah and Barbara the MGM studios hired a Czech director named Gene Deitch to continue working on the series, he created 13 shorts in all. Directly following Gene was Chuck Jones and iconic cartoon director and artist in his own right, he was hired in 1965 and brought the Tom and Jerry show back up to its previous popular level. The Tom and Jerry Chuck Jones DVD set was released by the studios to pay homage to this late great artist and has all of the episodes that he created while working on the cartoon.

Another must have for any fan of the mischievous cat and mouse duo is the Tom and Jerry collection box set. The makers have taken 40 of the most loved classic episodes and digitally re-mastered them to play on our screens; this collector’s item makes a great gift for both children and adults alike. Fashion Sunglasses, The Lady G Way

Unless you have been living on Mars for the last 12 months, it would be impossible, regardless of your music taste, to have ignored the phenomenal rise of Lady GaGa. Hard for many reasons, not just because her music has topped the charts the world over, but because she is also the most photographed lady of the year and why? Simply put, glasses. Ok, some of the hype might have been about her possibly being a bloke, but much has been written and seen around her choice of shades.

Yes, not as you may have expected her dress sense to come under scrutiny, but instead her odd choice of ladies glasses. Not a video goes by without it featuring some form of mind boggling creation sitting atop her nose and there is a ton of middle shelf magazines with her face (obscured by sunglasses mostly) on them.

You might ask just how practical these creative additions are to the sunglasses range? Surely these monstrosities are nothing more than gimick for internet gossip or do they provide pointers in the fashion world? Ok, perhaps not the work place, but it would be pretty funny coming in to an office work environment wearing a pair of her slatted glasses wouldn't it?

She is so popular right now, the UK government could do worse than to employ her to help spin some of their tough decisions in a better light, hell they could even get her to wear prescription glasses to promote the national health service and she would not look out of place at all. My personal preferance would be to get her wearing a pair of those truly terrible cheap prescription glasses from the 1960s Now that really would be worth watching in an NHS music video.

The trouble is, love her or hate her, she would probably look just as amazing no matter what type of glasses she wore, especially when the kids these days don't even seem to listen to the music she makes, caring more about the dance routine that accompanies it. Yup, Lady GaGa has done as much for glasses as the pope does for Catholicism.
